UPVC Replacement Door Handles

As time passes the handles on your doors will wear down and require replacement. It is important to be able to match the dimensions of the handles you have previously replaced when replacing them.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever handle or lever is a contemporary door handle that is designed to fit new or replacement doors. This type door handle is offered in a variety of designs and finishes. A variety of manufacturers provide this type of handle, including Avocet ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

The handles made of uPVC/Composite are made from durable materials, and are ideal for doors with multiple points that require a strong design. The handles are inline and use the same screws and spindle to fix them. They can be easily mounted on new or existing uPVC/Composite doors.

The handle can be adjusted and angled to accommodate any user. The handle has been tested to 200,000 cycles. This will ensure the quality of the finish as well as the performance of the handle over time. The sprung lever can be shortened to fit the widest range of locks. This is particularly useful for doors with narrower frames, in which the cylinder is further back. A lever that is shorter is an ideal choice for doors where the latch can be activated by the thumb turn inside.

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc functions differently from lever-type handles found on most doors. These handles are operated by one spindle or two spindles inline or offset. They are commonly used on UPVC doors with double glazing. They come in a range of finishes and variations.

The handles are available in various finishes, including White, Chrome, and Gold. The finish is compliant with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, thereby giving the handle a high level of durability and performance for its intended use.

All UPVC handle lever pads come with a spindle, screws and can be installed on a uPVC door. The backplate fixing centres of 211mm permit a bigger handle, which is often a benefit in replacing window handles a defective or worn multi-point door lock mechanism. These levers for handles are also spring-loaded, thereby solving the issue of handles hanging from their horizontal position when they are not in use.

When choosing a replacement UPVC handle and spindle, it is essential to match the dimensions of the PZ on both the multipoint lock and the uPVC door. This measurement is also known as the handle centre or 'cylinder centres and is an essential aspect of matching up the appropriate handles.

After you have determined the correct PZ size, you will need to make sure that the lever and push pads are designed to fit the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles that you need for your door. These are typically of a round or square shape, with an internal lever and external push pad.

Most of the UPVC lever pads that we sell are sprung, meaning that they return to their horizontal position when they are not being used, instead of hanging out and possibly securing in the frame. This helps prevent the draughts and cold air from entering a property. The majority of UPVC lever pad style handles come in both left and right handed models which allows them to be put on either side of the doors.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are usually found on uPVC doors, but they can also be used on other types of doors. The cylinder lock is operated by a key which unlocks the cylinder's casing. This reveals pins that can be aligned with those inside the lock, and permit them to rotate the revolving camera, opening the door. Euro Cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins with external door handles euro lock and internal doors usually needing different levels of security.

The choice of the correct cylinder is vitally important; this depends on the way your doors and handles are utilized. External doors, for example are required to be fitted with cylinders that are more secure while internal doors can be secured with an ordinary cylinder. Certain cylinders are equipped with additional features that can increase security, like anti drill or anti bump properties.

A euro cylinder needs to be measured accurately to ensure it is the correct size for your door. The cylinder must be measured from the screw hole at the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn in the event that one is present. If you are unable measure it with the lock in position, you can remove it. It is crucial to not have a extension of the cylinder beyond the handle or escutcheon. This can make it vulnerable to snapping lock attacks.

Most modern cylinders are designed with anti-drill and bump resistance features that are built into their design. They are designed to minimize the chance of attack by forcing cylinders to rotate in a new direction. This can help stop the attack and keep your doors safe.

Certain cylinders are made to resist snapping. This is a growing type of attack on cylinders, which is where the break line of the lock is attacked using a special tool to snap off the front of the cylinder and allow the door to open. This is a faster and simpler method to gain access than through the use of a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the burglary which could delay insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is positioned within the base of your door handle backplate providing a sprung solution that returns the multipoint lock handles back to their rest position after use. There was a time when handles of this kind didn't have a spring built into them, and without it they can droop or drop when the locking mechanism is removed. This component is the best solution to fix this problem. It also prevents your upvc door from becoming stuck in either the open or closed position since they are difficult to close manually.

These spring cassettes are specially designed for use with multipoint locks sprung but they won't work with unsprung multipoint handles and you will need to have a bespoke hole cut into your backplate to allow these to fit (please look at the image for a technical diagram). These cassettes are a replacement upvc window handles to damaged or missing cassettes that are in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are supplied in one unit. They feature a square cut out that is able to accommodate an 8mm shaft.
