If the door is still moving or jiggles, then you may need to increase the size of your latch hole on the strike plate. This is more prevalent on older doors. It can be caused by wear and tear, hinges that are too shallow, the wrong size latch, or a damaged strike plate. If this is the situation then you should use a filing made of metal instead of a chisel or hammer to adjust the strike plate.

Remove the Latch

The latch is the angled metal piece that is able to move in and out of the hole on the inside edge of your door. The latch is moved forward when you turn the handle. It also hooks into a hole on the door's frame so that the door remains closed. If your door is wiggles when you close it, replacing the latch could be the only thing needed to correct the issue.

Removal of the Cover Plate
