WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. A random substat is also increased with each upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any type of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item upgrader kit is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your gear. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item upgrading, but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items that can be used to upgrade weapons, tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased by players from item upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be used on any weapon or tool with a button, which will show an item's preview when it is upgraded if the player has sufficient materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and the current level of the item as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than bracers or gloves, for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with some upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. After an item Level upgrade has been upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Many locations offer item upgrades upgraders which include the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and the possibility of getting a new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases with the number of items that are being upgraded. It can also be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no item upgrader available at the start of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that can be used to upgrade require several methods that are both an improvement and a drawback.

In Season 3, the upgrade system has been modified a bit, and numerous new features added. Once a player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This applies regardless of whether the items come from a different set of equipment.

The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is cut as well, but is only available when certain milestones have been reached.

Crests

When upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a few options. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item upgrader kit level upgrades. Crests are a crucial element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

First, you must be aware that crests are only available for gear that is of a particular rank. Each rank has distinct upgrade paths. The most basic and straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complex requires as many as 20 crests based on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by completing tasks at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in all difficulty levels to obtain lower-level gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons that have a high difficulty to obtain endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, however it brings some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it will no longer require Flightstones. This change is intended to allow players to get their equipment up to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

Another important change is that crests have one purpose, so it's important to use them properly. It is best to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the Best item upgrader gear that you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially true for items like rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to avail the account-wide discount if all of the slots are filled with top-quality equipment.
