Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our bare floor tests, and they're particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our top choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a great deal for those whose home or office has a lot of bare flooring and you're looking to save some money. Additionally, it's quiet and can work when you're at work or at school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with an awe-inspiring one in a matter of seconds.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

It's one of our most attractive robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum to score 100% in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning robot mop and vacuum mop mops.

It can be used to make cleaning schedules, set up a spot clean or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms for better performance. The app comes with a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot cleaner vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture better. It is equipped with an impressive 8000 Pascal suction as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba.
