Robots that vacuum and clean offer the convenience of cleaning both dry and wet messes in one session and without the need to switch devices. They can also reduce space when compared to two separate units, especially in smaller living areas.

The S1 Pro is a powerful small machine that can mops up a storm and is a great vacuum cleaner too. The mops are spun at a high rate and employ 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to quickly get rid of pet hair, dirt and sticky dried spills. The vacuum cleaner comes with four power settings, a variety of brushes and Best Robot Vacuum Cleaner and Mop attachments, and an intuitive app that lets you select the type of cleaning you'd like to do for each room.

The S1 Pro's front collision sensors and its smart navigation technology are superb as the robot is capable of detecting tiny obstacles that other models struggle with. The only issue it has is that it tends to hit objects and walls at full speed. As with the other two Roborock models I've tried, this one has reactive 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology which help it avoid walls, furniture and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and incorporates dual cameras that can detect objects, determining if they are walls or other surfaces. It can then change its path in a way that is automatic and clean around the objects without stumbling.

It's the most expensive model I've tried, but it also has the most features. Its sleek and angular design is striking, and it only has three physical buttons. The power button, which restarts the cleaning mop button, which doubles up as a child-lock, and a home-button to send the robot to its dock. Lifting the hinged lid, you will find 350ml of dust bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank will empty itself, and the bin is auto vacuum and mop-refilling.

The only negative I found with this model is that the VibraRise mop pad mount is not removable. Although you can change the mopping cloth (if it's required), it's a pain to remove the mount to wash manually. I've found that any plush carpet that the robot touches will be in contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, and could cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a variety of smart features that include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can set up and manage these via the Roborock app which is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app lets you schedule cleanings and monitor the battery's life. But you'll need to jump through a few hoops in order to enable voice control with this model which is unfortunate considering the performance of this model.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 is an industry-leading robot vacuum and mop that has incredible suction power, sophisticated mowing capabilities, and a variety of innovative features. Its innovative design lets users to tailor and effectively clean while saving time.

The X40 is the first robot vacuum cleaner to deliver 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which easily makes it one of the top options available. This powerful vacuum removes dry mess, including pet hair and crumbs. It has a mop of excellent quality that can clean hard floors without the need for a pad. It can also be programmed to skip areas with carpets and mop only hard floors or vice versa. It can be controlled through the Dreame app or via Alexa, Siri, and Google Home to ensure a smooth voice-controlled operation.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that's among the most expensive available and comes with a lot of additional features that make it stand out. Its mops have a new feature called Smart DuoScrub. It utilizes two mops that are high-speed to clean floors more thoroughly than the standard method, and it comes with the highest suction power of 7,000Pa. This is more than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra and Ecovacs Deebots T20 Omni. It can also clean pet hair, dirt particles, and clean up spills and dirt-stained spots.

Its mops are also cleaned and dried inside the base station after every use. This is a great feature because it stops mould and unpleasant odours from building up in the storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. This is a feature we've yet to see on other robot vacuums and mop models and it could be a great way of keeping your home cleaner for longer.

The L20 Ultra is also one of the most stylish robots we've seen on market, sporting a white and metallic design that looks classy and sophisticated. It is a little heavier at 4kg than some of the other robots on this list, but it's still not a lot of weight. It feels solid and well-built. Mopping is also well-designed, and the double rotating mops work well on hard floors as well as in corners. The MopExtend feature lets them reach up to 2mm below baseboards.
