Diablo 4 Item Upgrades

The game should display more information in its compare interface regarding upgrades, like: "X stats gained, or X stats lost." This isn't practical to implement due to the complexity of the process of comparing. There simply isn't enough space in the UI to make it work.

Another option is to create an application that checks the upgrade requirements of an item before allowing it to be upgraded. This is a good option for systems that have an extremely small number of items that can be upgraded and have simple upgrade dependencies. An example of this is a sword that can be upgraded from Sword +2 to Sword +2. The amount of crests or Flightstones needed to upgrade an item varies on the level of the gear and the maximum upgrade level is determined by Blizzard. Upgrading to the highest upgrade level is expensive especially if you're upgrading PvE gear.

Upgrades can also alter the weapon's ammunition or damage die size. They can also change its special weapon properties, such as its unwieldy or operative property, or its hand requirement. Certain upgrades can alter the appearance of the weapon.

While increasing stats is the main goal of item upgrades however, you must consider the cost of upgrading an item prior to making the decision. Spend your gold on rare items and not on items of the common or magical tier. These aren't worth upgrading, and rare equipment will soon surpass them.

If you're not sure whether or not upgrading is worth it you can ask your guild members for their advice. There may be better upgrades for less money. Upgrade your equipment as soon as you can, as upgrades get more expensive over time. If you cannot afford the upgrade costs it may be best to hold off. This will help you increase your chances of success in the game.
