World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. They also boost extra bonuses like PvE damage and crit chance.

For example a weapon that has the upgrade template that ends in % will take on 3damage to attack each time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item upgrade's level. The cost increases with item's level.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into armor, weapons and trinkets to give an extra stat boost or impact while they're being used. They can be obtained through making crafts, buying from vendors, trading with other players, or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment that has a slot for them; the item must have been at least upgraded to the blue level for a component to be used. In contrast to other mods components can only be used once; they can't be used multiple times or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are type of upgrade component used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or Ascended equipment, as well other items that are not ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be retrieved by salvaging gear from the ascended, or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, thereby changing the name of the item it's used on (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' is changed to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players to create stronger versions of the equipment using less Upgrade Crystals than is required to reach the same level of upgrade through normal methods.

A boost upgrade can alter the attack or defence characteristics of the weapon or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist, these upgrades can be created at the Portative Forging Station. They can be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear or by purchasing them from the cash store for 500 upgrade crystals.

Each upgrade item increases the chance that a higher tier version of the item will be dropped in the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to continue improving their equipment even if they're not sure of how much they'll improve following a subsequent reset.

If a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process may be costly, and there is a high chance that the item could be obsolete or even break when it fails. A failure to upgrade can destroy Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. This is alleviated by the availability cash shop items that can increase or even eliminate the chances of failure, and a few upgrades that give the benefit of being reinserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to improve the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets that are specifically designed for. Glyphs boost the effectiveness of all nodes in their radius and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in various ways, and we suggest getting them to level 15 as soon as you can.

It is commonplace to see in the endgame that putting Glyphs is a great method to upgrade your equipment. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded directly to level 15 and offer a large boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to get higher nodes faster.

Glyphs, the sole upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and replaced again are the most commonly used. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and replaced with a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

Each Glyph has a specific range of values that it can improve a stat by, and the value is shown when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can choose to replace it with a different Glyph with the same rank or a higher rank, which will increase the overall value of the Glyph.

There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of the Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain tools for gathering unlimited use and also through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt could drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs which you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

When you have the desired Glyphs then you have to attach them to your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus that boosts the stats of a particular set of nodes that are within a radius of the Glyph. Depending on the Glyph, this will either be +40 to one of your primary stats or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Glyphs will boost all nodes that are connected to them, which is why it is best to place Glyphs in the most important locations on the Graph. This will increase the impact. For example an Druid should try to place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes, but you should also be sure to place them near the most critical damage nodes as well.

Leveling

The upgrade system for items allows players to boost the power of certain items by adding upgraded components. This is often referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item has a level that determines the final stats. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum level of ilvl 385. Each level of item requires different components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.

Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by the completion of Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or obtained from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed earns several Technology Points. These points can be used to upgrade the item, and once enough are earned, the upgrade can be claimed and its additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When a player upgrade a piece of equipment, the base item is replaced by a new item upgrader kit. The same armor will be upgraded to a weapon or a shield when upgraded. The new item also has its own set bonus. This can be a downside, as the item upgrader mod can increase in price even if you don't need it.

The upgrades to items can be rerolled, provided that the player has enough reroll tokens to be able to do so. The item will be replaced by a brand new one that has a base of level 1 and totally different bonuses. This is a good idea but it shouldn't be done often as it can be a waste of resources.

Some upgrades can be rerolled multiple times which increases their value and allowing the player to customize their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, since it grants buffs when the player repeatedly enters or exits the water. This can be upgraded several times, each time increasing the maximum roll by an increment of 10. This item can be extremely valuable in PvP as the best version of it can be worth between 20 and 50x its value if it is not upgraded.

Requirements

Item upgrading allows players to upgrade the quality of their equippable equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate items and currency to an item upgrader NPC. The upgrade of armor set pieces will also increase the defense base of the piece, whereas upgrading weapons will increase the base damage as well as the required strength and dexterity to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.

All items can be upgraded a maximum of five times, with the exception of hero gear that can be upgraded up to eight times. Each time you upgrade an object, it has a chance of failing. The rate of failure increases when you exceed the maximum number. Failures can cause the item to go back to its original state, requiring the player to spend more money on materials than they would have to had they stopped upgrading at the highest number of upgrades.

If an item isn't upgraded, the experience bar in its growth bar will be reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it has gained, such as the chance to crit damage to attack, additional effects (such as increased heal over time, or reloading speed). However, the player may still continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.

When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from lowest to the highest. This means that the weapon that is upgraded gains a crit chance increase it will be applied prior to any damage to attack increases. A new attribute called Slots is now added to the item definition and the value is computed every time an upgrade is made.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item upgrader kit are based on its rarity rating and upgrade slot count. The upgrade cost for non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade--for example, a common equipment item could have five upgrades at a cost of 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items are less expensive per upgrade.

Premium items may have different upgrade requirements from regular gear. For example, they may need less sowels, but they will require more minerals and orons. Players will still have to bring every piece of gear they want to upgrade to NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. Each upgrade to equipment will require different amounts of ingredients needed to upgrade, in addition to the expenses that are listed above.
